You know Christmas is slowly creeping upon us when Walmart announces their annual Top Toy List. Its also an added bonus that Walmart’s layaway plan is bigger and better.

If a customer puts a toy on layaway and Walmart rolls back the price later in the season, Walmart will honor the rolled-back price if it is in effect at the time of final payment. Walmart will also match competitor pricing during checkout for layaway products through its ad match policy. Customers will be able to pick up their toys once they complete their layaway payments. Once completed, customers will receive a full refund of the $5 layaway open fee on a Walmart gift card.

Event: The U.S. Department of Treasury Public Auction

On Wednesday, August 1, 2012, the U.S. Dept of Treasury will be hosting a public auction beginning at 9am.

Some government seized items that will be auctioned are air conditioners, name brand handbags, household items, generators, furniture, tools, clothing and so much more.

VCE Warehouse, 2951 NW 27th avenue in Pompano Beach, FL 33069

Please note, American Express cards will not be accepted. Also, no property will be released on the day of the sale. Once final payment is received, buyers can pick up items starting on
Thursday, August 2nd.

Job Alert: Red Robin Restaurant hiring for new South Florida Location

Anyone else watched those Red Robin commercials and was frustrated
that there were no locations near you?
The closest restaurant to me is in Southwest Miami and thats
a bit of a drive from Broward County. It seems as if the
Red Robin fairies heard South Florida’s cry and they’ve
decided to open a location in Pembroke Pines, FL.
I will have more details about the Grand Opening in a later post.
But, you can’t have a Grand Opening without a great team in place. 
That is why Red Robin is looking to hire 150 individuals to join
their team.

As we reported in a previous post, Walmart’s layaway program begins October 17th thru December 16th. The program is available on all electronics and toys with a retail value of $15 or more, including dozens of additional popular toys on Rollback to $15, such as Leapfrog Scribble and Write, Disney Princess Toddler Dolls, Transformers 3 Mechtech and select Lego playsets.

* In order to participate, each item must have a price of $15 or more, customers must have a total minimum layaway purchase of $50, make a 10% down payment on the total purchase, and pay a one-time non-refundable $5 service fee. Items put on layaway must be paid in full and picked up on or before Dec. 16. There is a $10 cancellation fee for any orders not picked up by that date or cancelled by the customer. Cancellation fees and service fees may vary by state. Contract wireless phones are not eligible for the layaway program.

Macy’s to Hire 78,000 for the Holiday Season

Beginning next week, resumes for seasonal positions will be accepted through the Macy’s career center and the Bloomingdale’s career center. The seasonal positions will be at Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores, call centers, distribution centers and online fulfillment centers. 

Most positions are part time and many require evening, weekend and overnight hours. 

Hiring for in-store positions will begin in mid-October.
